EVENTS AND LEADERSHIP SUPPORT ASSOCIATE

The American Society for Public Administration—the nation’s leading professional association for public administration—is seeking an exceptionally organized and talented events and leadership support associate. The associate is responsible for all logistics for ASPA’s professional development activities—including a robust e-learning series and 1,200-person annual conference—and for providing support to the board of directors and board committees. The associate provides all logistical, planning and management support for ASPA-produced webinars, functions and events. The individual will work collaboratively with other staff to develop electronic and print communications related to ASPA programs and cultivate cross-sector partnerships to support ongoing activities.

The associate also is responsible for advancing ASPA’s effective governance by working closely with the Executive Director to support a 22-member board of directors and four board committees. The individual will develop substantive action-oriented agendas and outcome-oriented briefing materials and work with executive leadership to identify and implement programs to promote greater leader participation and engagement.

This position requires impeccable verbal and written communications skills, critical thinking skills, strong customer service instincts, experience with event planning logistics and excellent technological ability, preferably with iMIS, Zoom and GoToWebinar, as well as Microsoft Office Suite. A Bachelor’s degree is required; prior experience in a public service and/or membership organization is a plus.
