Section for Public Performance and Management Call for Proposals

Location: 2018 American Society for Public Administration Annual Conference, Denver, Colo.
Date: March 9

The Section of Public Performance and Management (SPPM) invites you to submit a paper focused on public performance and management research at the 2018 Annual Conference of American Society for Public Administration.

In an era of increasing public demands and scarce government resources, public performance is under intense scrutiny. Government and their partners, along with scholars, continue to innovate in terms of measurement and management as an attempt to better understand and enhance public performance. At the conference, SPPM will showcase the latest in public performance and management research. Topics may include, but not limited to: performance measurement and evaluation techniques and applications, evidence-based management, politics and performance management, performance budgeting, strategic management, “big data” and other data collection/aggregation efforts, performance in public networks/collaborations/contracting, performance and accountability, communicating performance information and knowledge management.

Submission Details:  Paper proposals can be submitted through the ASPA Annual Conference submission website by selecting the SPPM (Public Performance and Management) Symposia option as part of the submission process. SPPM will review and competitively select proposals, pending ASPA final approval. Based on the response, “best paper” and “best student paper” awards may be distributed. As an added benefit, authors whose proposals are selected will have the opportunity to publish their work with two scholarly journals: Public Performance and Management Review, the section’s affiliated journal; and Chinese Public Administration Review. Manuscripts should be submitted via www.tandfonline.com/mpmr and www.cpar.net respectively, subject to a blind peer review process.  The manuscripts shall be original, unpublished work, and not under review elsewhere.
